Kris's Gallery of Glass and Wood

This table has been chosen to complement the peacock stained glass panels in the hall of the house. Its design would suggest the origin to be the Far East; age unknown.
The table is 770mm square. The top has a solid centre panel with carved relief surround. The relief shows monkeys/baboons, birds with long tails in trees and possibly large hunting dogs. The sloping edge is a latticework of foliage. The legs have entwined cobras with heads at both top and bottom. The feet are monkey/baboon heads. In the centre of the leg braces is a statue of a comorant-like bird with a bracelet of balls hanging from its beak. Can you help identify its origin?
(Apologies for the poor exposure of these interim pictures)
