Kris's Gallery of Glass and Wood

Welcome to the gallery. Here you will find temporary and permanent displays of glass, stained glass, wood and sculpture articles; plus anything else that takes my eye.
Some are from current craft workers but many items have been rescued from various ignoble ends.
Some of the pieces look as if they have an interesting history. Perhaps you can help fit pieces in the jig-saw?

Music and movement

My woodwork teachers at secondary school encouraged me, a bookworm, to try practical things like wood turning and also sailing. Being part of the school choir, especially in front of school and parents at the annual Prize Day, gave me a taste of the power of choral music to move the soul. None of these things became a main thrust in my life but they made me richer by the experience.

Here is a first cut sample of my new toy - Symphonic Choirs synthesising the treble melody of the first two verses of the School hymn.
You may find you have to download it first if it sounds very choppy just streaming into your player from here.
As George Bernard Shaw said "what is amazing is not that it does it well - but that it does it at all".

It is good to see similar creative influences on young lives today. Both the Kangaroos Gymnastics Team and the Libera choir give ordinary boys a taste of achievement that will last a lifetime.

The quote "You can't step in the same river twice." is very true of live performances.

Take a look at the video clip of excerpts from Libera's 2007 pre-tour performance "Libera in concert - 2007".
...or listen to some of their sample tracks from their many CDs.
There is a Libera DVD of their Leiden concert but so far it has only been officially released in Japan and the USA.

The world of boy choirs is well represented by video clips official, and unofficial, on YouTube.

Sculpture

After decades of procrastination Kris has finally learned to sculpt in clay. My current speed of working is so slow that it would have been more suited to the pace of an ancient cathedral. My naturalistic style is the sum of my life's influences and has resonances with the "New Sculpture" of the late 19th century. It will be nice to leave my models with their likeness that should last for a few generations.
